You play a violin with a bow consisting of a stick with a ribbon of horse hair strung between the tip.First, it is good to have a violin, a bow, rosin, a tuner of some sort, a soft cleaning cloth, and an introductory violin method book such as Suzuki Violin School Volume 1 or Essential Elements for Strings Volume 1. It is also good to have a private teacher to help you learn if you are not involved in a school orchestra (if you are of that age). You need a bow and your fingers
