The four current members of Tonic Sol Fa are:
Shaun Johnson - Tenor
Mark McGowan - Baritone
Greg Bannwarth - Baritone
Jared Dove - Bass
This has been the line up since 2001's "Style"
On all previous albums (4 Hours and 12 Days, Left Turns in Cross Traffic and Carol) the group was a 5 piece. For those albums, Cheston Lance (tenor) was the fifth member, and Tim Hoback was the bass. However, I don't think that Greg was on 4 Hours and 12 Days, although I can't remember the gentleman's name whom he replaced.
The tonic sol-fa of "Für Elise" in the key of A minor on the keyboard would be La - Ti - Do - Re - Mi - Fa - Sol - La - Sol - Fa - Mi - Re - Do - Ti - La. In sol-fa notation, each note of the scale is assigned a syllable, with the tonic (first note of the scale) being "Do" or "La" depending on the minor or major key. The sol-fa system is a way of teaching and sight-singing music using syllables to represent the notes of the scale.
The tonic sol-fa notation for "Amazing Grace" typically starts with the following notes: "do, re, mi, fa, sol," corresponding to the melody's beginning. The first few lines can be represented as "do, do, mi, do, do, re, do," capturing the essence of the hymn’s melody. This system uses syllables to represent pitches, making it easier for singers to learn the song by ear.
