According to Patricia Inder, one of Lennon's early lovers, John told her he had lost his virginity in the graveyard of Liverpool Cathedral when he was 13, with an older woman.

Boyhood friend Pete Shotton says Lennon was fifteen, and with his first girlfriend Barbara Baker (who was the same age). He described the experience as "like trying to get into a mouse's earhole". The "older woman" story was a later fabrication.
