Wayne Cochran & the C.C. Riders.
Wayne Cochran wrote the song in 1962, but his version of the song was only a local hit in Georgia.
The song was made popular nationally by J. Frank Wilson and the Cavaliers in 1964, reaching number 2 on the Top 40 pop charts.
The most recent remake was from Pearl Jam in late 1998 (released to public in 1999) - it was a big hit for the band, despite the vocals being annoyingly off-key.
The original drummer from Kiss is Eric Singer.
