According to the story I heard, it was Waylon Jennings, who rode on the tour bus instead.
Supposedly it was Waylon Jennings, who was a member of Buddy holly's back-up band, The Crickets, and later went on to have a solo career in Country Music.
Waylon Jennings
That was on the Buddy Holly flight. Not Patsy Cline's.
In 1959, he gave up his seat on the plane with Buddy Holly to the Big Bopper who was sick.
BUDDY HOLLY - A self-taught guitar player, Jennings rose to prominence as a bass player for Buddy Holly following the break-up of The Crickets. He escaped death in the February 3, 1959 plane crash that took the lives of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and J. P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson when he gave up his seat to the latter.
Dion known for his song teenager in love didnt board the flight which crashed with buddy holly on the plane
Big Bopper and Richie Valens. Interestingly enough, Waylon Jennings (who played in Buddy Holly's band at the time) was supposed to be on the plane, but gave up his seat to the Big Bopper because Big Bopper had a cold and felt bad, and didn't not think he could handle a bus ride.

No...Buddy said something to him to the effect of "I hope your bus catches fire" or something like that then Waylon said "I hope your plane crashes" they were just kidding around. for years after that...waylon really thought he was the reason why the plane crashed and he thought he was the reason why Buddy Holly died.
Lots of them, but Buddy Holly was the first. - The song was originally called "Cindy Lou", written to cheer up Holly's niece, when she was ill. Bandmate Jerry Allison convinced Holly to change the name, to impress Allison's girlfriend, whom he later married (and divorced).
The back-up band Buddy holly toured with and recorded with was The Crickets.
He didn't have messed up and teeth and he's not funny looking. Why don't you sing me some Buddy Holly songs and go star in your own version of the film because it sounds like you're itching to.
everyone other than: The pilot The Big Bopper Richie Valens Buddy Holly
Actually, after Buddy found out that Waylon Jennings gave up his seat to the Big Bopper, Buddy told him "I hope your bus freezes up", to which Waylon replied, "Well, I hope your old plane crashes". Although he was kidding, that statement would haunt Waylon for the rest of his life.
i seem to think he signed up with decca record company.
