The jukebox was invented by Louis Glass with the help of William S. Arnold in early 1889. It was originally called the Nickel-in-the-slot because in order to listen to it you had to put in a nickel. At first it had no amplification, so users had to listen though four listening tubes. Within six months of service, the jukebox made over $1,000. Eventually after years of fighting with the new radio, they came enhanced with speakers.

I hope that I helped a little bit!!
