When Demi Lovato was thrown into the spotlight after starring in Camp Rock, she hated that people saw her as a role model. She had so many issues of her own that she felt that she was not fit to be a good role model.

Now, after undergoing treatment for her issues - which include bulimia, cutting, and Bipolar disorder - she is trying to be a better role model to her fans by speaking up about her problems. At the same time she admits that she's not perfect and is still fighting her own demons. To many fans who have suffered from similar issues, she is a positive influence who has caused them to open up about their own problems and seek help like she has.

Here is what Demi said herself in her MTV documentary "Stay Strong":

"When I first started in the industry I was with Disney Channel and everyone just kind of made me a role model. And I HATED that. I was partying, I was self-medicating, and I was like 'you don't know what I'm suffering with, you don't know what I'm dealing with. Why would you want your kids to be like me?' 'I felt like I was living a lie."

"I realized that no matter where I am, there's a bigger purpose. And it's to use your voice, and it's to inspire people. It's to get people through their days and their problems. And it's to pick people up when they're down."

Demi Lovato is a great influence. She went through some dark times, and suffered from problems such as anorexia and bulimia, as well as self-harming and depression, which is why some consider her not to be.

but what is important to remember here is that although she suffered from those things, she sought help and got the support she needed at a treatment facility and dedicates her life to trying to prevent what she went through from happening to any other girls.

Her music touches people and she wants to stop girls from going through what she did, which is why she is also a part of the "Love Is Louder" campaign.

Demi is a good influence on teenage girls, because she's spreading the right message to young kids everywhere suffering what she did, warning them "not to go there" and explaining how much getting help helped her to become the strong young woman she is today.

Salena is a good role model because some kids wish they would be her and some kids wish they meet her. Most of us have a memory of her as a Disney channel star but she has become so much than that, she has made such impact not only me but millions of other all around the world.
