I'd say Dethklok, even though they are fictional, but they did get the highest US entry in the charts for a black metal band. I'd also be inclined to say Dimmu Borgir, but that's just cos they are my personal favourites... :-p

∙ 12y agoProbably Cannibal Corpse, if we limit the spectrum to actual Death Metal, and don't consider these so-called 'Melodeath' bands.
If not Death (the band that is the founder of death metal), I'm gonna have to say Dark Tranquility. Dark Tranquility, Amon Amarth, In Flames, Nightrage, and Insomnium are examples of REAL melodeath (melodic death metal) and not that watered down fully commercialized crap melodeath.
