The Words Greatest Jazz Drummer every drummer should know was James(Coatesville)Harris. He played and recorded with John Coltrane. Buddy Rich mentioned him on the Johnny Carson show years ago. He was a Black Drummer who Rich knew and was rated number 3 Behind Rich and Cruppa only because he couldn't read music.Max Roach May be the best alive. But the best in the begining was James (Coatesville ) Harris.

∙ 12y agoCalvin Rodgers, can play any style, and just like Marvin he never over plays a song. Not only does he play for multiple artist such as Fred hammond,vashawn mitchell,Byron cage and more.he gets tired sometimes like run out of breath most time, but he keeps going! that's why he is the best gospel drummer.
