"Sailing" is a love song written by Gavin Sutherland in 1972, performed by The Sutherland Brothers Band. The original and best version of the song performed beautifully by Rod Stewart some years later.

Also recorded by Robin Trower on the Long Misty Days album

The bassist on Rod Stewart's song, "Sailing," was either Donald "Duck" Dunn, Bob Glaub, David Hoodor Lee Sklar. These are, according to the liner notes of the album Atlantic Crossing, the bassists on the sessions; however, the liner notes do not specify who played on which song.
