They were Joanne Catherall and Suzane Sulley. In a move that probably wouldn't go over well today, they were brought in at about sixteen, leaving high school to do it.
They were supposed to be temporary, because after the Human League/ Heaven 17 split, they needed more people for various reasons (stage appeal). But after the 'Dare ' album when "Don't You Want Me Baby" became a massive hit, they were there to stay. "Empire State Human" is my favorite from before the girls joined, and is harder-core in style. Somehow neither Heaven 17 or Human League kept the "Sheffield sound", but Heaven 17 is harder-core, especially songs like "Crushed by the wheels of Industry" and "Let's All Make a Bomb".

I found that this song has been sung by Grace Jones, Olivia Newton-John, and June Carter Cash. No mention of a female Blues artist recording it.....but perhaps there is a version out there somewhere.
Because of You is perfect for that. Me and my bFF did that song for the talent show together
No. The female version of this song, or rather the Part II of it, was sung by somebody named Kaushi Diwakar.
