The only place I have ever been able to purchase them is at Hershey's Chocolate World in Hershey, PA. And sadly, they are not sold online. They DO offer them "Seasonally" in their Holiday Catalog (in "Pails"), and at stores nationwide, in Transparent Christmas Cane Tubes for around one Dollar each, along with their other candies like Kisses and Reeses' Pieces.Wal-Mart, Ralph's/Krogers, and Target, ALWAYS carries them, and some sites like Groovycandies sell them online seasonally. From the lighter side: I find them to be quite tasty!

Plastic pails can be used for numerous things. Some people use plastic pails for gardening or for water bowls for their animals. Others might use plastic pails at the beach or in a water table. Then others will use them to shell peas in or in their kitchen.
Aluminum pails should not be used in winemaking as aluminum is a reactive metal. For home winemaking, the preferred pails are food grade plastic. They can be purchased at a winemaking supply store or you could make arrangements to possibly pick some up from a local restaurant before their pails are discarded or go into the recycle bin. Just give them a good cleaning and sanitize them before using them.

The major difference between buckets and pails is their size. A bucket tends to be larger than a pail. Also, buckets come in a variety of shapes while pails are generally wider at the top than at the bottom. Pails always have handles while buckets sometimes do not have handles.
