DJ Kool Herc was the first rapper then afrikaan baambatta but sugarhill gang was the first group of rappers. They say that blondie a known rock artist was the first to drop lyrics in rap form ..... also pirates were the first rappers holdin they thangs on the ships talking bout yo ho, yo ho .......hahahahaa.......yeeeeeeeeeeeee

But no really .....this person forgot one of the originators of gangsta rap .....was Too Short and N.W.A. all coming out of the west coast .....to wit starting a wave of hip hop from all over the states and world to get gangsta with it .......

the first 3 independent rap artist were Too Short , E-40 , and Master P at the time all reigning out of the Oakland California Bay Area

Too Short born in L.a. and raised in Oakland started Short records/75 girls label

E-40 born in Vallejo , California where sic wid it records started

and master P (percy Miller) born in New Orleans and raised in Richmond California where No Limit Records started
