Robert Ranke Graves [July 24, 1895-December 7, 1985]. It's his autobiography, which was published in 1918, and republished in 1957, as a memoir against the experiences of World War I. The title refers to Graves' perceived ended role of traditional values in guiding English and European beahavior. For example, he wrote about the horrors of trench warfare, and about the killing of prisoners of war.
