"The Orign of Rap Music" was written by a Philadelphia author named Robert Jr. James McClendon. DMC mentioned the book on MTV in a 1994 special which used some of the inforamtion in the book. Fab 5 Freddy also used information from the book to tell his history of hip-hop on MTV. Bakari Kitwani used everything sent to "Source Magazine" from this author to write a book. Arseneo Hall received a copy of the book and invited Grand Master Flash to dispute his claim about "Jocko" and then had poet Maya Agelou come on to chastise the author about mentioning Jimmy "J.J. Walker as a part of Rap's history. Many folks have stolen from this author. This is the first book that ever critiqued Black music. Before there was a "Come On! People" and all of what you hear today, this author was saying the same thing Mrs. C. Delores Tucker was saying back on the early '90's, only thing he wasn't saying it for the money, like perhaps she was. The author of "The Origin of Rap Music" also released a cassette tape titled "Rapologist Speaks '94" that actually was sent to Black radio stations all across the country. Most memorable quote from his "Rapologist Speaks '94" cassette was - "If white people like it, nine times out of ten - it ain't real Rap Music". Now you see why they had to silence this man? He was known as Rapologist-Critic Robert Jr. James McClendon, aka "The voice of the one crying in the wilderness".
