Same problem on a lot of Ford,Mercury radio displays. You can go to www.shareamemory.com/radio/ to get the story and a pay for fix or ask the same question at batauto.com. It's a component heat/solder failure.
In the fuse panel on the drivers end of the dash ( the fuse panel removable plastic cover panel is visible with the drivers door open ) fuse # 29 - 25 amp - radio fuse # 20 - 7.5 amp - radio , RAP module , GEM fuse # 28 - 7.5 amp - radio , GEM , memory seat
if you have a stock radio and all it displays is the word call it is a possibility you might have locked your radio out. If you recently replaced your battery or your radio somehow lost power this is possible. to retrieve the code you can check in your owners manual as some dealers put the radio codes in them. the best bet is to go to a ford dealership that has a service department and they can look it up for you and tell you how to input the code tounlock your radio.
The radio is usually supplied power until you open one of the doors. Perhaps what you have is a bad door sensor? Try shutting off the car, and then opening the passenger door and see if it shuts the radio off. If that doesn't fix it, then whatever module the radio is connected to is probably bad.
