Why did Demi Lovato leave Sonny With a Chance?

Sonny With A Chance was put on hiatus while Demi Lovato was in treatment for her personal issues. After leaving treatment, Demi decided that she did not want to go back to the show and was going to focus solely on her music career instead. Sonny With A Chance will not be continuing without Demi. Instead "So Random" will be spun-off into it's own series.

Demi told People magazine: "It made sense for me to leave the show to focus on my music. In the studio you don't see my body, and I feel all of my confidence is in my voice. I don't know if I could handle being in front of a camera with my body right now."

"Sonny with a Chance" is now called "So Random". It has everybody in it from the previous So Random team except for Sonny, of course. They decided to change their name because there is no longer a character with the name of "Sonny". Also, since Demi Lovato is no longer on the show, it wouldn't make sense to put another girl in for the role of Sonny because there would be an obvious change between the characters.

So, since Sonny is "gone", they changed the name to their shows name, So Random.

First, so it is made clear, Demi did not go to rehab because of drug use. She has never drank nor smoked. The reason why she went to rehab really, was because she thought she needed to go there to deal with her problems. Physical problems like her cutting issue and her eating disorder, which could both be considered as emotional and mental problems. She has a past of being bullied and that might also be a cause. She also might have an anger problem, because of her attack on one of her backup dancers, which was basically the reason she put herself into the rehab facility. She was also on tour before she put herself in the rehab facility, so maybe the stress got to her. The fact that Ashley Greeme was all over her ex-boyfriend Jow Jonas who she was on tour with probably got to her too. But anyways, she will get better because she was smart enough to recognize she had a problem, whatever the problem might be, and put herselfelf in rehab. Good luck to her and to her family.
Demi left Sonny With A Chance/So Random because she went to rehab. She went to rehab because she was self-harming and wanting to commit suicide, and she had an eating disorder. Demi was anorexic and bulimic. She is bipolar. Demi was very niave and young and people targeted her and sold her drugs and alcohol. When Demi went to rehab, she didn't want anything to be the same as it was before, so she left So Random/SWAC and decided to focus on her music instead. Demi stated that she's not fully recovered and is still struggling every day, but she is getting better and her career is growing. She is now a judge on The X Factor USA.
Demi Lavato is not on So Ran.dom because she got sick from not eating enough.
