Why did Phil Joel quit the Newsboys?

Basically Pater Furler wanted to be less busy and realized he did not have time to "do it all": he wanted to spend time with his family and to continue songwriting for the Newsboys, but decided to give up touring,after many thousands of miles over 22 years. There was no crises whether physical health or spiritual, no big fight among band members. Pater issued a statement to the Newsboys' Facebook fans saying that he still is part of the newsboys family and believes in their music and mission. He chose Michael Tait to replace him as the concert front man,calling him a "statesman in our industry". The Newsboys used to tour with Micheal and his former band,d.c.Talk.

In Planet, a Christian Music magazine, Phil Joel said he left to concentrate on his family and do his personal goals and also to concertrate on his time with God.
