Based on her status and connections, life for Rebecca Franks was a lot better than it was for the average colonist. People with privilege usually want to make sure the conditions that create that privilege continues. All of Rebecca's associations are probably loyalists, so the information she received would likely reflect the colonists as the bad guys, and trouble makers who probably exaggerate.
