This section of Columbia, Md. was named after Owen Arthur Brown, graduate of Maryland University Class of 1975. Owen was a great Basketball player at Maryland University, playing with such greats as Len Elmore and Tom McMillen. Owen died suddenly of a heart attack a week before his 23rd. birthday, Feb. 1976. He is buried at Park Holm Cemetary, La Grange Park, Illinois. Owen is a graduate of Congress Park Elementary and South Middle School, Brookfield, Illinois, Class of 1967 and Lyons Township High School, La Grange, Illinois, Class of 1971. Owen was the starting center for L.T.H.S. basketball for three and a half years, leading his team to the Illinois State Basketball Championship in 1970.
