Gibson sued Ibanez over their copies of Gibson models made in Japan in the 1970's. The suit specifically was for trademark infringement by Ibanez over the copying of Gibson's "open book" headstock design. Ibanez settled out of court, agreeing to no longer copy the Gibson headstock design. Although no other Japanese maker that was producing copies was sued, since then many people refer to any 70's Japanese copy (by any manufacturer) of an American design as a "lawsuit" guitar.

This is a really fine dreadnought oversized body acoustic guitar. Really nice pearl inlays on the pick gaurd and on the neck.
For an electric a Les Paul Special is a good choice.Maybe an Alvarez or a Yamaha for an acoustic would fit that need.
I have an Alvarez 5042 and it is from 1982. Commemorating the 60th Anniversary.
Brand new i think an Alvarez RD20S is $229.99. You can see at this site: http://www.andysmusiconline.com/products/alvarez_rd20s.html or lots of other sites if you just google RD20S.
You can get an alvarez guitar anywhere from 180 dollars new to 5000 dollars. The yairi line is very expensive and worth every penny if you ask me. I own a md80 masterwork series that goes for 850 dollars and i own a asg4 electric which was made in 2000 only it went for 380 dollars. I've found that alvarez guitars give you a quality for the price that you won't find with any other company. The guy that showed me alot the things that i know about guitars had a yairi that was 20+ years old and I picked up my first alvarez when i was about sixteen I've had it ever since and it is still my favorite guitar. If you are asking what your guitar is worth sen me your serial number and model number to mnewman1986@yahoo.com
