Depending on the kind of music, it is perfectly normal for music to trigger emotive responses; in this case fear, while one in in bed; i.e. in a state of vulnerability in particular. Highly dramatic, or 'high tension' pieces might startle the brain that is in a relaxed state, causing an adrenaline trigger.
On the other hand, simply dark, or exceptionally noisy pieces can cause confusion; coupled with the darkness (as most sleep with the lights off) this can cause fear due to a lack of feedback from actual surroundings, not to mention again the adrenaline rush associated with sudden loud noises.
A lot of people enjoy listening to music to help put their mind at rest. Some great music to listen to at night are instrumental music. Some people may also listen to relaxing music such as the sound of the ocean and the waves at sea.
