edit - when you play your instrument and it is not wet, it tends to squeak often.
How you would get your reed wet is by taking the part that has the size number, For Ex: 3, then put the part that has the "3" FACING your tounge and the NOT thicker side outside your mouth. (: hope this helped! Good luck!
The reed is the main part of the clarinet. Without it you cant play the instrument. It allows you to blow threw the clarinet to make the noise. This goes along with some other woodwind instruments (the flute and recorder are the only woodwinds that I can think of that don't need a reed).
it makes it so it doesnt squeek _____________________________________ Incorrect! The reed will MAKE the instrument squeak if played incorrectly. The reed vibrates very fast on the instrument, which creates the sound. You cannot play a woodwind instrument without the reed (if the instrument requires a reed).I play flute so i wouldn't know much-but this is what i know:The instuments that require a reed are saxaphones and clarinets have one reed the bassoon and the oboe have an double reed.It is not true that it doesnt manke it squek because the reed is what makes it squeak! But the reeds purpose is to make the noes come out,and its where your mouth goes!
It means your reed has mold growing on it, or if you had bought it that way, it may be just part of the wood that was used to make the reed.
Not really. You have to get used to the keys under your fingers as each saxophone is a little different. The reeds however need to be wet enough so they vibrate and aren't bowed. When starting with a new reed keep it in your mouth a while before putting it on the mouth piece. This will make the instrument with a new reed eaiser to play.
How you put a saxophone reed on is you loosen the gold reed holder on the mouthpiece. Do not take of the golden reed holder! Stick the reed in your mouth and wet it with your Silva. Once wet slip it under the gold reed holder. Make sure you get it on straight and you cover up the hole in the mouthpiece. Tighten the gold reed holder and make sure your reed is on straight. Now all you need to do is play your saxophone.
Because you need a reed in the mouthpiece to make a sound
The homograph of "reed" is "reed." It refers to either a thin strip of material or a tall, grass-like plant that grows in wet areas.
you can leave very wet and soggy without putting it back in the container but be sure not to leave it in your clarinet or it will grow mold.
A tall grass that grows in wet areas is andropogon gerardii. It can be as tall as six feet.
well the reed is only used for woodwinds and the mouthpiece is only used for brass. the reed is a thin piece of wood basically that when wet is more flexible and is able to vibrate which produces the sound. the mouthpiece is metal and you have to "buzz" in the mouthpiece to make a sound

You can find clear and illustrated ideas on how to make Reed Diffusers on the Tipnut website. You will also need reeds, empty bottles or a vase, fragrances and oil.
