Why does Jason Aldean go by Jason Aldean if his real name is Jason Aldine Williams?

Like many others in the entertainment industry, Jason uses his first and an alternative spelling of his middle name as his "stage name." He is not the only singer/actor/athlete/celebrity to do so. For example, Angelina Jolie is not billed as Angelina Jolie Voight or just Angelina Voight, although that is her birth name. His reasons for using a stage name have not been revealed, but I have a suspicion that Williams is a fairly common surname and perhaps he wanted to be known with something a little more unique. Plus A comes before W when being billed alphabetically. And perhaps he didn't want to continually be asked if he was related to Hank Sr or Jr or even Ted. And there was an actor who was billed as Jason Williams (I believe he starred in the sex spoof Flesh Gordon), and maybe he didn't want to avoid confusion in that respect either, should he ever dip his toe into acting (SAG rules state 2 actors cannot share the same name in billing).

because when someone becomes a music artist or something in that criteria they have to have a stage name so that they can have a life on stage and a life as a normal person.
