In the book the giver why were gabes eyes of such interest to Jonas?
Both Jonas and Gabriel have blue eyes, a very uncommon feature in their community, because of "Sameness." This meant that they had the same birth mother and because Jonas could receive memories, Gabe probably could too. The other person Jonas saw that had blue eyes was a 5-year old girl also from the same birth mother (each birth mother had three children).In other words, Gabe had light eyes almost exactly like Jonas' eyes. Jonas thought that maybe they had the the same birth mother as Gabe, along with the little girl in the Sevens. She had light eyes too. Jonas was also embarrassed about anyone talking about light eyes because he had light eyes too, unlike the rest of the community that had darker eyes.
