This is all for the sake of being himself, he doesn't want others to be like him, he doesn't want to change people's religion as church officials have stated etc., he wants EVERYONE to be who they want to be, and not afraid to be it.

∙ 11y agoMarilyn Manson had a tough childhood, that much is true, however, no where does it state in his interviews or information does it say that because of his childhood did he end up like this. He always had an idea of wanting to do something like this after he was put in a private Christian school, because of this and how the teachers would teach the kids to hate "satanic" music like Alice Cooper, Kiss etc., this was Marilyn Manson's key is hating such views on music, in which case lead him to listening to this kind of music and being like them. The music that Manson creates is mostly about the stupidity that this world gives up, that no one should be afraid of who he or she wants to look or be like, and through his make up and music, because he tells the truth, it frightens people.

∙ 11y agoAt first Marilyn wanted to put that shock factor into fans by being completely bizarre and getting their attention by any means. Without the makeup he may have never gotten the attention he wanted. Also, he can escape the celebrity life and leave his home without having to completely changing his look. All he has to do is take off the makeup, and most people can't recognize him.
