Shifter may need ajusting . Could also be a bad vaccuum switch (My 88 Wrangler had that problem)
It may not be in all the way, try shifting from reverse to forward a couple times.
Mine does that too, if I wait a while it turns off. I think it is the vacuum system not releasing right away.
put the transfer case in 2 wheel high, if the light stays on a while after it is because there is a vacuum issue and the indicator is showing the wrong gear, this used to happen on my cherokee, give it a few minutes, you'll feel the front diff disengage.
Have vehicle scanned to determine the problem I own a 2001 Jeep Wrangler with a 6.0 Engine and I had this happen to me just 2 weeks ago. My number 2 injector was bad and was flooding the engine with gas. It ran horrible. DO NOT DRIVE your vehicle if you have a flashing engine light, as you can destroy your catalytic converter. I had my injector replaced and all the O rings changed and she runs great! I had this done at the dealership. Also, if you look in your owners manual, it will tell you about this warning. Hope this helps you!
Fix the problem and the light will reset itself after a certain number of drive cycles.
Most are interchangeable, I used a Cherokee Steering Gear on my Wrangler. :) The numbers are on the top of the gear. If they match and/or if it looks exactly the same as yours, in every way, it will probably work on your vehicle. There were also some Light Toyota Trucks that had the same gears as the Cherokees' too.
It all depends on the calibration of the fuel level sensor. In general, the light means that you only have a gallon or two of fuel left but that amount is different for each fuel tank.
No, the manual transfer case does not have a 4wd mode display

Reverse light switch is probaly connected to switch on transmission check connections
there is quite a lot of light in the Sahara desert and at night it is quite a bit of light.
Your selector should be in the neutral position. Select 4WD H, and move selector into drive. Your light should stay on. If the light is turning off, you may have a problem with the actuator or hubs. Sometimes going from Park to Drive, your 4WD will disengage.
It is vacuum operated, give it a few minutes, or cycle from park to reverse, to drive and it should go off, it always will after a while.
I don't know if it's the same for your 4WD as mine, but sometimes the transfer case will stay engaged after use when load is on the gears. Try this, stop the vehicle, put it in reverse and back up 20 or 30 yards to see if it comes out of 4WD. It usually works for me.
The "part-time" indicator light illuminates when the vehicle's transmission is positioned into the 4 wheel drive status. Once the vehicle is returned to 2 wheel drive the front hub locks disengage and the indicator light goes out.
A person can rest the check engine light on a Jeep Wrangler by disconnecting the battery. This will also rest other warning lights on the dash.
