check fuse box, anyone need to replace.
I have a 95 Intrepid that had a nice factory radio that had great sound. Bought it used a little over a year ago. Radio started having problems a few months ago. I could start the car and there would be no power to the radio, other times, there would be lights on it, but no sound, and you could not change stations, controls, etc. Checked all of the connections, all were fine. Eventually put another radio in, and have had no problems since.
You could have blown a fuse, you could have a wiring short. do you have a factory radio that requires a code if you lose battery power? it could be a number of things. eliminate what is not the problem first.
Doing the best I can with the information you've provided in your question,
I can only say that something is broke.
Going way past the information you've provided and going out on a limb,
I'd recommend that you check for a failed fuse under the fuse cover.
i have a 95 Spirit and have the same problem. It is getting power to the radio (back lit, and tape player will rewind, but the clock display doesnt work, and the radio doesnt work (which sucks). Sometimes it will turn on when I start my car, but once the car is running, there is 0% chance of the radio coming on, even if I start banging around the radio. THis leads me to believe that is not a loose wire, but something in the ignition? Any input would be appreciated! I to had the same prob with the radio in a 90 Caravan which also carrys the same radio setup as the Dodge Spirit... its a short in the radio that aventually developes... theres nothing wrong with wiring... i took the radio setup out of my 92 Spirit (cause trans went out) and put it into the Caravan and still works fine, so its not a wiring prob... just a prob with the radio itself.
Check grounds Check loose wire on switch Check defective switch
i had a sony installed in my 1994 cutlass supream SL convertable, they told me the radio controls willnot work= come to find out neather does the airconditioning (go figure) they told me the ariconditioning runs through the radio, = Does it? wellthey told me it was a $75 + labor to install it AFTER they put the dash back together.... any one know if they are right? if the airconditioning controls do work through the factory radio?
The radio will work fine, but there will be nothing to hear.
Only if you want the radio to work.
yes 1987-1994 will work
she is already pregnant
Usually if the radio doesn't work, a blown fuse is the culprit. Radios occasionally fail, but its rare.
If the radio is connected properly to power, ground, antenna, and speakers, it will do everything that a radio is designed to do, whether it's mounted in a Stutz, a Plymouth, a Marmon, or a little red wagon.
The sending unit may be faulty
It means Security and you need the lock out code in order to get your radio to work or go to a dealership.
Time to take it to the shop.
I guess technically the radio is still receiving broadcasts, but without an amp, you can't get them to be heard.

Turn the volume knob to the right. If that doesnt work then it isn't getting power. Check all connections and fuses.
there is a code you need to type in.
