I think it's because, in the video, it has clips of two men kissing at a party and an abusive husband.
It depends on if you are talking about the song it's self or the video. The album the song is on has an explicit version and a "clean" version because one of the other songs on the album has a version that includes "explicit language". However, there is no difference between Firework on the two albums.
The video is considered adult because it shows a young woman talking off her cloths and going swimming in a bra and panties. We all know there isn't any real difference between what she's wearing and a real bikini, but bra and panties = explicit and bikini doesn't. Go figure...
