We rescued a baby blue jay. I found a local bird expert who said kitten food. Blue Jays eat bugs. We put Mr. Blue on a perch attached to a computer monitor. This kept him warm. We put a disposable diaper underneath him. We fed him with chopsticks so he wouldn't become fixed on human fingers. We put him in a bird cage at night and kept the cats outside. When I picked him up he had no feathers . At first he ate constantly but we could put him to sleep by covering his cage' My son was working twelve hours a day at his computer so this was no problem. We took him outside but he tried to get back inside especially when it rained. Finally I got annoyed and left him in his cage outside for several hours. After that we could't catch him. My neighbor had a habit of feeding his cats outside before going to work at 6 A.M. and thought he was being attacked by a crazy jay until he figured out it was our fault We thought next year whatever big blue jay must be him but we were never sure'
