It's because he puts it on - just like the lead vocalist in the Box Tops whose name eludes me. When you use this effect it's very difficult to attain perfect pitch. Enough said.
he has a problem with his vocal cords
No she's doesn't smoke. In her music video Disturba that was a fake cigrette and it was fake smoke. She Has Had A Few Cigerettes but she doesnt smoke all the time she has them every so oftenPerson A: Rihanna doesn't smoke regularly but she has one smoke before each of her concerts because she says it makes her voice sound more "raspy."Person B: I think she's stupid to do that.
Depends on how loud you yell. Marine Corps Drill Instructors, both male and female, will deliberately scream so long and loud that they damage their vocal cords. Then they will continue to scream after that. They will do this repeatedly until their vocal cords are permanently scarred, giving them a raspy voice which can carry over almost any other noise and which they call "command voice" - on a subjective level it's a very scary voice. Doing this hurts, causes permanent damage, and takes incredible discipline. On a temporary basis, from listening to someone scream, it usually took about 2-6 hours of continuous intense screaming to hear someone else loose their voice. If you're just yelling a lot every day, it could take a long time to permanently alter your voice - months, if not years.
He had the voice of an angel.
The female voice in the song What So Not by Jaguar is Marlena Shaw.

He sounds exactly like I did when I was using oxycodone.
drink a lot of water and don't talk so much also go to the doctor and get medicine
Yell alot, smoke, smoke, and smoke some more. Cough and clear your throat constantly, but when you have accomplished the rasp in your voice, it won't be so sexy when you are known for your loud mouth, obnoxious behavior, and cigarette smell. Talking too much, singing too much and of course smoking too much Singing without warming up will give you a raspy voice. Stevie Nicks got her signature voice this way by accident. It creates scar tissue and nodules on your vocal cords. It is something that I would not want to have.
google it dude , so lazy!!
Rachael Ray has had slight medical issues with her voice for a long time, I believe; she had surgery this past year on her vocal chords. RR stated that her problem was talking too much and getting to excited with her voice when she speaks; we especially see this from her on television. She also stated that she "doesn't shut up long enough for them to heal", so she may cut back on her show-taping schedule. (Ray is NOT a smoker)

Marlon Brando is the actor who played The Godfather in the famous film of the same name. Yes, he was originally hired by EA to be the voice of the Godfather in the game. However, EA found that his voice was too raspy in some scenes due to his old age, but Marlon died before he could be asked to come back into the studio to fix the bad-sounding scenes. So instead EA scrapped all of his voice scenes and hired a young voice actor who sounded similar to how Marlon did in his heydays.
Ritalin can stimulate cognitive - especially verbal - brain activity. Thoughts and words can seem to flow much more clearly. In as much as Ritalin might increase one's propensity to vocal dialog, it could, as a side-effect of that, make one's voice more raspy or rough. This would not be any more a part of the mechanism of the drug as talking more than usual without stimulation by methylphenidate (generic compound that is in brand name Ritalin) would be. So technically, I would actually say no, I can't see any reason Ritalin would make your voice raspy any more than other things that would cause you to talk more, such as any stimulant drug, or giving a talk, or engaging in extended vocal dialog, etc. I am not a medical expert so someone might eventually have a better answer for you.
