Well, first of all each member of the "Memphis Mafia" was someone who; Elvis knew (some of them for three decades), Elvis trusted, Elvis confided in, Elvis worked with, and in some cases lived with Elvis. There is no doubt that when three of the members of the "Memphis Mafia" were fired by Vernon Presley, Elvis' Father, and only given 2 weeks pay after working for Elvis for three decades, they were extremely hurt and felt betrayed. They went on to write a book entitled "Elvis What Happened" and Elvis was hurt, furious, and resentful and feared that this book would; hurt his daughter Lisa Marie, hurt his relationship with his fans, hurt his career, and permanently damage his good name. Two of these men were Red West and his cousin Sonny West who Elvis had befriended in High School at Humes High School in Memphis. They were among Elvis' oldest friends. Since Elvis' passing Red West and Sonny West have suffered and have shared their pain, and regrets, openly in documentary as well as their love for Elvis. Forgiveness, especially when it comes to Elvis Fans, is not always given freely. However, when it comes to Red West and Sonny West there is no doubt that Elvis loved them and that they, even to this day, love Elvis. Some of the other members have (sadly) passed away, with the most recent being Lamar Fike, and the remaining members have given their time to reach out to Elvis Fans Worldwide and share their memories of Elvis. Marty Lacker continues to be a tireless Elvis Presley advocate who has "corrected" countless falsehood about Elvis both in print and online.
