Elvis Presley, the King of Rock and Roll, was not allowed to be film from the waist down due to sensual dancing involving the hips. It was thought that with Presley’s dancing and romantic/ derogatory lyrics that the populace was in practice to hear was enabling young adults to commit sins of lust.
It was censored by the network because his dancing was considered "obscene" (or at least suggestive) at that time, which was the 1950s and early 1960s.
Elvis was on the Ed Sullivan Show three times. The first time they showed his whole body, but then there was an outrage from parents and others, so the cameraman was instructed to take shots from only the waist up.
I guess it's because Michael Jackson died and everyone's focused on him now...not so much Elvis. Bummer.
The story goes that Elvis was watching TV one night when Goulet appeared on the screen. Elvis pulled a .357 out of his boot, and shot the TV. Whether it is true depends on who you ask. One story is that Goulet had sent Elvis a letter when Elvis was in the army stationed in Germany, stating that he had "taken good care of Anita". Anita was Elvis's girlfriend who actually lived at Graceland, and she had worked with Goulet on a television show. Elvis liked guns...and shooting TVs was something he did a couple of times according to sources close to him.
Elvis And Me is no longer available for video or DVD release.
Elvis first "comeback" occurred after his stint in the US Army in 1960. Elvis had been drafted into the US Army during the peak of his popularity (note: he received his draft notice in late December 1957).What is widely known as Elvis "comeback" occurred in 1968 with the TV Special, sponsored by the Singer Sewing Machine Company, entitled "Elvis". This TV Special is also known as "Elvis Comeback Special" or "Elvis '68 Special" among other nicknames.Since Elvis had been locked into movie contracts/commitments, beginning in 1960 through 1968, Elvis' singing/live performances had ceased to exist. This 1968 TV Special showcased Elvis raw talents, and he was in excellent physical and vocal shape, and proved once again that Elvis was a magnificent singer and stage presence.
Elvis Presley's hip gyrations were once considered too racy for television

Elvis shot his TVs because of the people in them. for example, once he was watching and the man was saying something rude about Elvis so he shot it.
During Elvis' career, he never did any TV commercials.
