Paul of Tarsus, the last Christian apostle arrived in Jerusalem at the end of his third missionary journey in 58 AD to bring donation to Jerusalem church. He got report from the church about the rumors that he opposed Jewish culture and religion. In order to show that he did respect Jewish culture and identity,
he and four Jewish Christians performed purification rites. Before the rites
were over he was spotted by Ephesian Jews who recognized him because Paul
had been argued with them for three months in their synagogue. These Asian
Jews assumed that Paul brought an Ephesian named Trophimus into the inner
court which prohibited non-Jews to enter. So they ignited the whole city and
Paul was drag out of the temple, beaten and almost to be killed.
