Pop mainstream music relates to indie pop music in many ways. While both genres are considered pop, one is designed for commercial and mainstream audiences. The other, of course, is independent in nature and designed for indie and alternative music lovers.

It depends. If you Justin Beiber kind of pop, then, yes. If you mean Micheal Jackson and disco, then no. Don't mind me though. I like lots of types of music. Pop, rock, rap, jazz, disco, even some oldies.
