It's common for humans to avoid eye contact when we know we have done something wrong, to hurt someone or are ashamed. It's a coping mechanism. More than likely, he doesn't want to look at you because he doesn't want to miss you. He tried to bury his feelings for you by dumping you, in the first place. You probably got to close for comfort and it scared him -- so he had to dump you to get away from those long-dead feelings of love that he can't risk feeling. He's probably with someone now who doesn't pose that threat to him. It's easier for him, but, he's still a tortured soul. He's not happy with her. And he misses you. I totally agree with the above answer. My ex N dumped me for a considerably less attractive woman than me....and about 100lbs more and 10 yrs older. I was the one that ended it first, then took him back, then he dumped me 2 weeks later and took up with this woman(who is also mentally unstable). I think he couldn't handle being with me...his insecurity got the best of him, so he dumped me and devauled our relationship and is now in la la land with this woman, whom he proabably knows he can control a lot more than me and not to mention, he can con her out of all her money. Word is on the street that he is totally using her for money. I expect he will be back to try to weasel his way back in my life...or at least for sex. I plan to reject him of course. Well, I hope I do....
