The varnish is really more superficial; it is simply a shiny coating over the wood of the violin but does not serve as much protection to the instrument itself. Though it may protect the instrument from very light surface scratches and scuffs, it will by no means protect the instrument from more serious damage. Even water can ruin the varnish on the violin--so no, varnish is not very protective.
The windex bottle looks kinda the same as it does today. it just the prices have changed and the bottle's shape.
No, I use Martin's Guitar Polish on my guitar. However, if you have a modern guitar (not an antique), Windex WITHOUT ammonia is OK.
Well, this is a process I found. In order to properly use Windex to clean your flute, first apply the Windex to a microfiber cloth and have another microfiber cloth set aside. Next, rub the Windex cloth in a circular motion on the flute being sure to avoid damaging the pads and the cork. and yes, u can use it to clean your flute

Actually, yes. Maybe not in small amounts, but from personal experience, it's worse than dropping it in water. We had a bowl of Windex (don't ask why) and somehow it landed in it. Now the phone turns on, it just doesn't really work.

We don't anymore. we have brown boots now that when they get dirty we can simply take a brush to them. As for dress shoes we have Corofams. They are already shiny, all we have to do to clean those is spray Windex on them and wipe them clean. Some people say Windex can ruin them, i use it all the time and never have a problem
Windex is used for cleaning glass and mirrors.
because, that was the name of the product. (movie, book, etc) if the main subtitle was "the red violin" the author will base it on that name so the violin has to be red. The answer to this question will ruin the surprise ending of the movie - which is that the maker of the violin in the movie used his dead wife's blood to varnish the instrument, and in doing so the violin took on her life force. Which is complete rubbish since dried blood turns dark brown when dried.
