The best material to use on these types of connections is a rubber amalgamation tape. This can be purchased at any electrical supply house. After applying the rubber tape overlay it with ordinary electrical tape. The electrical tape has UV protection that will stand up under the sunshine and protect the rubber tape. When the electrical tape starts to look dried out and starts to crack just re install new electrical tape, the rubber tape will be alright and not need to be replaced.

Car radio is not getting all FM stations?

1). If it's getting any FM stations, then the radio is OK.2). If it's getting the strong (nearby) stations but not the weak (far away) ones, then check the car's FM antenna, the connection between the antenna and thecable, the condition of the cable from the antenna to the radio, and the connectionbetween the cable and the radio.

You get no sound from radio and scans constantly have swapped radios 2 other Taurus and your radio works in other car you get the same results with the swapped radio?

Your antenna lead-in is broken, and the radio isn't getting any signal. That's why it keeps scanning and can't hear anything. Check the connection from the antenna to the cable, and if that's OK, then you'll have to replace the cable from the antenna to the radio. You did connect the antenna to it when you were checking it in the first car, right ? You can quickly test this hypothesis: With a radio in the first car, where no radio works, connect the power, but don't connect the car's antenna to it. Instead, stick the end of a different piece of wire ( 3 to 6 ft long) into the center hole of the antenna connector on the radio, and see if that makes it possible for the radio to start hearing things.

How do you get rid of static on FM radio in your home?

The radio should be connected to a filtered power strip. These filtered power outlet strips are inexpensive and available in most stores. In more detail....First, how strong are the signals you want to pick up?If you are in a very weak signal area, the only solution is to use a large antenna to capture more signal. Have a look on the Web for antenna/aerial construction. What you've called "static" might just be receiver noise, exactly like the noise you get on an FM set when you tune between stations. If the "static" is *receiver* noise, only a better antenna, or maybe relocating/aiming your radio will help. Now, if you are in a good signal area, what kind of "static"? It might be interference from machinery, it might be from television sets, or from home appliances or computers.AM is the most sensitive to static, so it's the best place to start. You can check whether it's coming from inside your home by turning everything else off, and you'll need to turn off at the wall socket or pull the plugs out, as some equipment still creates interference when you've turned it "off" at its control panel. If the static continues, it's outside your home (it might be from the flat/house next door or it might be a factory or even electric trains). Try getting a portable AM radio and pointing it around. If you get a large *decrease* in the amount of static, you are pointing to (*or* away from) the source. Most AM radios use a ferrite rod antenna which is highly directional at *right angles* to its ferrite core. You may be able to pinpoint the source this way.FM is *very* immune to static, so if you're getting static on an FM set, either (i) the signal is *very* weak, or (ii) the interference is extremely strong. If your FM set has a socket for an external antenna, and you have a TV set, get down to your local HiFi/Radio/Tech store and get a lead to go from the TV antenna to your FM radio. TV antennas usually work well at FM frequencies, so this may give you enough clean signal. Be aware that, if your TV antenna is a "UHF-only" type, this may not work too well. Still worth a try.

How do AM FM radio antennas work?

In order to understand antennas it is helpful to understand electricity and it's effect on metals, so for a comprehensive understanding you should first educate yourself on that subject. However, if you are just curious and would like to have a basic knowledge then consider the following analogy. When you throw a beach ball into a calm swimming pool, you will see waves go out in all directions from the beach ball. The waves will proceed across the pool until they encounter the interference of the edges of the pool. The height of the waves depends both on the size of the beach ball you throw and how much power you put into that throw. Antennas work in the same way. When electricity is "thrown" into the metal of an antenna, the metal reacts to the electricity at an atomic level in the form of a wave. This wave, just like the beach ball wave in the swimming pool, radiates outward from the point where the electricity enters the antenna. Now, because antennas are working with radio waves and not water waves, the waves in the metal of the antenna actually produce waves in the air touching the antenna. The waves also continue outward through the air until they encounter interference which is why you will have difficulty receiving a radio signal deep inside a building. The structure of the building is stopping the radio waves in the air from getting to you, just like the edge of the pool prevents the water waves from getting to you as you sit in your pool side lounger.

Why does your 98 vw Jetta not run good or even die after heavy rain?

www.VWVORTEX.com Either your ignition coil is getting wet (just add some dielectric lube to the connection and electrical tape around it) or your vacuum pump hose has a hole.

Why does the FM reception not work on a 1998 Dodge Dakota radio?

Sounds like an antenna or coaxial cable problem, especially if you're still getting some AM frequencies. AM receivers can often pick up stations even with the lack of antenna input, but FM receivers are pretty unforgiving. Check that the coaxial cable is plugged properly into the back of the radio, then check, if necessary, the connection at the base of the antenna, assuming the antenna is still there. Those are the two most likely locations for coax trouble.

Broken antenna motor 92 Buick le Sabre?

My car had an issue with the antenna motor and my mechanic just fixed it so the antenna stayed up. Cheaper fix than getting a new motor!

Getting a VHF antenna will allow the TV to have a strong signals and get the programs that you would need. Also, UHF could be another alternative to VHF.

Would you consider purchasing an HDTV with antenna?

If you are having a difficult time getting a good quality picture on your HDTV then you should consider the purchase of an antenna. Some of the things to consider are the quality and range, as well as the ease of use and support that is provided for the antenna.

Which brand of electronics is best suited for antenna for TV?

I would first suggest getting an HDTV antenna, because it will allow you to get better quality shows than a standard TV antenna. ClearStream antennas have some highly recommended HDTV antennas.

Where is the antenna located on a four door 2005 Nissan altima?

The antenna is in the rear window. You can not buy the antenna separately on this model; you have to buy the entire window which is about $475. However, if you are getting static noise, then it may be your antenna amplifier ($190), which is alot more common. Just went thru this myself with my son's car.

Your 1994 Nissan Altima radio's antena is not working after you replaced the original stereo with Pioneer DEHh-P3700MP?

did this a couple months ago on a 93. first, is the unit itself getting power? then make sure the FM antenna plug that was plugged into the pioneer has a solid connection, if it doesnt solder it together or take it to a pro. my connector actually broke and took it to an audio pplace and they fixed it in 20mins. Are you saying that the power antenna doesnt go up? Or that you dont get reception? If it was a power antenna there was another adapter you needed to buy for like $15 when you installed your stereo... if you didnt get it, your antenna isn't going to work.. If your saying you dont get reception, then I don't know what to tell you...
