They do different things and compliment each other well. There is only one function of N360 that is 'shared' by defender

Windows defender was made for optimal speed and deceit protection. The problem s defender doesn't stay as up to date a needed. To day there are many threats and unless you are a Guru like me then install Norton, AVG or Windows Live Onecare. Answer There is always a chance that someone could get on to your computer. You just have to find the right balance between security and leftover processing power. And if you do get protection go with AVG and not Norton. It is better and it doesn't slow your computer down as much.

Windows backup. Windows will better protect your files because it knows where all the needed files are for backup. However, Norton is also great for this type of thing.
