You need a strong dialectical tone, a catchy hook, a message, a nice beat, well thought out lyrics, or random slews of nonsense that make people laugh, something people can relate to, and background music that pumps people up. Anyone who disagrees should try it sometime, in front of a lot of real rappers. If you want to hear some good rap, go on YouTube, or iTunes, and type in some of these names:

If you are good at poetry, you are good bro. When you start rapping, you have to start with a rhyme first. All rap has to have rhyming and feelings. You do not have to swear bro. No reason. Last but not least, you absolutely don't have to be black. You can be any color skin to rap! If you heard of Eminem, he is a great example. Also try to practice rapping, you will get better and better. However don't always practice songs that other rappers sang. Write your own songs down. Trust me. I am a rapper, but I'm not famous.

Practise, battle against other rappers, participate in hip hop events that you can rap in, post your songs online, and see what others say about them (maybe fix something in your songs) ;)
