It's not that much different from the question raised here. The most important thing you can do to improve your singing skills is practice. Make sure you include a good warm-up before you start (singing arpeggios is a good start).

Practicing three times a week for thirty minutes each is another good starting point.

If at all possible, look into working with a voice coach, who can help you with other important parts of singing, like proper breathing and phrasing.
