All human children are born with high voices, because their voice boxes are not developed enough to vocalize in the lower voice ranges. Boys who sing before reaching puberty all sing in the higher ranges -- one is the soprano range -- and once their voices change, their voices fall into adult male voice ranges. Boys who sing regularly during puberty, generally experience less of the hoarse, husky or cracking quality that some boys get as their larynx enlarges to adult size. A boy that is used to singing soprano one week, may find himself more comfortable singing in a tenor or baritone range the next, it all depends on the boy. The important thing is to sing in a range that is comfortable, and to not strain to reach notes that were previously reachable. Vocal exercises can do a lot to warm up the vocal cords prior to rehearsal or performances. Key changes may have to be made in order to accomodate changes in vocal range during this time. Sing what you like, just don't strain your voice doing it.
