The singer is Rosie Hanlon; Rosie and the Originals. I believe she was from Southern California, I think San Diego. I remember as a pre-teen back in Niagara falls, hearing and learning to play this song on guitar, it's structure are classic "ice cream changes". (I-vi-IV-V repeated over and over)
You can imagine how thrilled I was to play this song with her at an oldies show in Los Angeles some 25 years later!
