A morning star is a weapon that consists of a spiked ball at the end of a chain or handle, used for striking an opponent. It is swung to create momentum and then used to deliver powerful attacks by hitting the target with the spiked ball. It requires agility and skill to wield effectively in combat.
Metal slotted handguards were used on the fully automatic M2 for better cooling. Some people now put them on M1 carbines simply because they like the look. They were never used on M1s in the military.
The Greek god Ares used a spear because he is the god of war and spears are used in war.

In the early 20th century a men's underwear company used the phrase "No metal can touch you" to sell their line of men's garters for socks called "Paris Garters." The phrase literally meant that no metal in the garter would be able to touch the skin. However, the phrase took on a humorous double meaning for soldiers during World War 1 as they took it to mean that by wearing the garters as a good luck charm no no metal, i.e. bullets, would touch them.
in the war they had a shortage of metal to build weapons or guns so they choped bits of metal off railings that were by churches,houses building etc............

All military head-gear has been popular thru out the ages for decorations: Feathers, combs, metal devices such as stars, buttons, or other such metal objects, spikes, shields, painted symbols, unit patches; during the Vietnam War writing "Graffiti" on their steel helmet covers became the new craze (writing slogans, jokes, calendars, girlfriend's names, etc.).
Metal was a war time commodity and not readily available. Often surplus war materials were used to make useful items. I would suspect that brass from shell casings would have been a common metal to use for ice buckets.

The Minie Ball haha i have been shot by one before i had to have my leg amputated. The Minie Ball was used in the Civil War and in a few other wars but it was mainly used in the Civil War. It is conelike with a hollow bottom and three or two rings depending on where it waz made.

During World War 2, women would donate items that were made of metal to help with the war effort. The metal could be used to make weapons and vehicles.
During the Vietnam War they were bare metal; the natural color of metal (silver appearing).
