All organisms are carbon-based... at least here on earth. All organisms are made of DNA, proteins, lipids, etc. The word organic, as it pertains to chemistry actually means containing carbon skeletons. DNA is made of organic bases, proteins made from amino acids that are all made with organic skeletons. Lipids too. Most life is made of about 18% Carbon, 65% Oxygen (from water), and 10% Hydrogen (from both water and other organic compounds). So, in a nutshell... not only are living organisms and carbon related.... they are inseparable.
