Alkane
An organic compound that contains only single bonds is called an alkane. Alkanes have the general formula CnH2n+2, and their carbon atoms are connected by single covalent bonds. Examples of alkanes include methane, ethane, and propane.
There are two such compounds: water and hydrogen peroxide.
A saturated hydrocarbon is a hydrocarbon which has no double or triple bonds associated with it. In other words, it is a hydrocarbon which contains only single bonds.
Cyclohexane is an example: a compound formed fron only one ring.
A hydrocarbon is a chemical compound made up of only hydrogen and carbon atoms. It can be either saturated (containing only single bonds, such as methane) or unsaturated (containing double or triple bonds, such as ethylene or acetylene).
Not very much matter is made up of only one kind of atom. Graphite in pencil leads is a popular one, but most matter is made up of several kinds of atoms.
Dirt is a mixture. Only what appears on the Periodic Table are elements, and as dirt is a combination of many things it has no single chemical composition so it is not a compound.
Ammonia gas is considered a single substance because it is made up of only one type of molecule, which is NH3. It is a pure compound with a specific chemical formula and structure, consisting of a fixed ratio of nitrogen and hydrogen atoms.
An element is a substance made up of only one type of atom, such as hydrogen or oxygen. A compound is a substance made up of two or more elements chemically bonded together, like water, which is made of hydrogen and oxygen atoms.
Carbon is not made form any compound. It is an element composed only of carbon atoms.
They never had a number 1 UK single.
An element is a pure substance made up of only one type of atom, such as oxygen or gold. A compound is a substance made up of two or more different elements chemically bonded together, such as water (H2O) or carbon dioxide (CO2).
