Depends on the type of plant. If it is a cactus yes, if it is a water lily, yes. But if it is a petunia, sunflower, daisy etc. then no. Plants have different ways to get food. Some like the venus flytrap catch insects and slowly digests them in an inescapable container. The strangler fig gets it's name by growing it's vines (I think) on another plant and steals it's nutrients. But most get their food through a process call photosynthesis (this has nothing to do with cameras) to make a sugar called glucose. They need sunlight, water and carbon dioxide (the gas we breath out) to make this sugar.

How will you explain the line'' no organism is independent''?

No organism can exist without other organisms. Plants rely on bacteria, fungi, and invertebrates in the soil to make nutrients available to them. The soil organisms rely on the plants to provide food for them. The animals that eat the plants, the herbivores, rely on the plants for food, and thus they also rely on the soil organisms. The soil organisms and the plants benefit from the herbivores because they provide additional fertilizer for the soil in the form of manure. Most plants rely on pollinators to help them make seeds, and the pollinators rely on those plants for food. Carnivores rely on all of the above organisms so that they have herbivores to eat. Without the carnivores, the herbivore population would get out of control, and the plants would be overeaten. Without the herbivores, the plants would overpopulate and alter the balance of the ecosystem in a harmful way."No organism is independent" refers to the food chain. It means that every organism is dependent on some other organism for its life. Only plants are somewhat independent as they are only dependent on sun to make food.

How do orchids make their food?

They don't, they are plants and take food from the atmosphere and soil

What would happen to living things if there were no soil?

Without soil, most terrestrial plants would struggle to survive due to the lack of nutrients and stability for root growth. This would disrupt the food chain, as animals that rely on plants for food would suffer. Erosion and flooding would also increase without soil to help absorb and store water.

Where do plants normally obtain most of their nutrients from?

Plants are autotrophs, meaning they make their own food - plants use the energy from sunlight to create sugar, which they then use for metabolic energy. Other nutrients are drawn from either the soil or the air around the plants.

What are the materials needed by plants to make food?

Plants need water and carbon dioxide to make their food. They also need sunlight and rich nutrients from the soil.

Why is it important for air to get into soil?

It is important for air to get into soil, as plants need oxygen to survive. Without air, plants would die, and therefore disrupt the food wed of the environment it is in.

Where do plants get ingredients?

Plants get the nutrients that they need from the soil and water. They get the ingredients to make their own food through photosynthesis.

How plants get nutrients?

Plants get nutrients from the soil they are in. The nutrients dissolve in the water and are then absorbed from the plant's roots. Plants make food with photosynthesis.

is photosynthesis? Photosynthesis is the process by which plants make food from light, water, nutrients, and carbon dioxide. ... All food people eat comes directly or indirectly from plants. ... Why is soil important to people and to other living things?

No soil= no plants. No plants= no air. No plants= no food. No plants= no animals. No air+ no food= no you.
