it saves sleep, we all need our rest, mhm,

No it doesn't if it is used as intended. The intention being to enjoy an extended afternoon and evening period and still get up earlier. This use means you get an hours less sleep which accumulates until you reach the following week-end when prudence insists you sleep the slumber of the sleep deprived.

A region where Daylight Saving Time is unnecessary?

Regions near the equator where daylight hours remain relatively consistent throughout the year may find Daylight Saving Time unnecessary. Countries with minimal seasonal variation in daylight, such as those closer to the equator, have less need for adjusting the clocks to save daylight. Areas with a consistently steady pattern of daylight hours can operate efficiently without the time changes associated with Daylight Saving Time.

What is the reason behind daylight savings time?

* Daylight Saving Time saves energy. Based on consumption figures for 1974 and 1975, The Department of Transportation says observing Daylight Saving Time in March and April saved the equivalent in energy of 10,000 barrels of oil each day -- a total of 600,000 barrels in each of those two years. California Energy Commission studies confirm a saving of about one percent per day. * Daylight Saving Time saves lives and prevents traffic injuries. The earlier Daylight Saving Time allowed more people to travel home from work and school in daylight, which is much safer than darkness. And except for the months of November through February, Daylight Saving Time does not increase the morning hazard for those going to school and work. * Daylight Saving Time prevents crime. Because people get home from work and school and complete more errands and chores in daylight, Daylight Saving Time also seems to reduce people's exposure to various crimes, which are more common in darkness than in light. www.standardtime.com

Why you have daylight-saving time?

Reasons For Daylight Saving TimeDaylight saving time is meant to save energy specifically electric power. There is more human activity in the early evening than in the early morning. By shifting the time such that it gets dark later, people will use less electric lighting and this saves electricity. During WW2, the USA instituded double daylight saving time (2 hours ahead) during the summer months. We go off daylight saving time during the winter months because it is not prident to have all the children going to school in the dark. Most peple love it because it gives you extra time in the summer for outdoor activities. Japan doesn't go on it. When i was there it got light at 5:00 AM and was dark at 6:00 PM. I was told the government there wants people to work more and not play as much. Daylights saving time saves time. Maybe light.Daylight saving time was started to save energy.Today in our global 24/7 global society it doesn't save anything. It shifts our experience of daylight and it has no effect at all on the actual passage of time or the actual length of daylight. But it would be strange if we called it Daylight Shifting Time, wouldn't it?
