Comets were not built along with our Solar system. Comets come from deep space, and usually zoom right on by the planets and the Sun.

But once in a while a comet comes zooming past a little too close to the Sun, and the mutual force of gravity finally stops the comet's forward motion, and starts to pull it back toward the Sun.

If the energy level of the comet turns out to be just right, it will continue that long, long orbit, the path of which is called an ellipse.

Otherwise, the returning comet goes into the Sun and disappears.

What members of the solar system have very eccentric orbits?

Comets. Periodic comets have highly eccentric elliptical orbits, with eccentricities.

Which objects have similar eccentricities?

Objects in the solar system such as comets, some moons, and certain exoplanets can have similar eccentricities, meaning their orbits are elongated or highly elliptical. Additionally, binary star systems can also exhibit similar eccentricities in their orbits around each other.

Which two planets have eccentricities very similar?

Jupiter 0.048, Uranus 0.047.

What would be the typical eccentricities for a planet and a comet?

A planet would typically have a low eccentricity, ranging from almost circular (0) to slightly elliptical (0.1). Comets, on the other hand, have highly eccentric orbits, often exceeding 0.5 and can approach 1, resulting in elongated and highly non-circular paths around the Sun.

Is it possible comets may have any influence in the earths' weather or cycles even the orbit variances?

Comets have a very low mass compared to Earth, so any affect they will have on Earth is from impacts which will affect the global weather.

What is is the shape of the orbit a comet has?

The orbits of periodic comets and the orbits of planets have the same geometric shape.Every closed gravitational orbit is an ellipse. But the eccentricity of the cometary ellipsesare almost all greater than the eccentricities of the planetary ones.
