An organism that eats detritus is termed a decomposer.
A herbivore eats living plants, and a carnivore living animals. Decomposers make a meal out of fallen leaves, animal droppings, animal corpses, dead plants, whatever is in the compost heap, and so on.
Aphids are considered herbivores, as they feed on plant sap. They are not omnivores (eating both plants and animals) or detritivores (feeding on decaying matter).
In a typical food web, herbivores are primary consumers that eat plants, such as deer and rabbits. Carnivores, or secondary and tertiary consumers, include animals like wolves and eagles that prey on herbivores and other carnivores. Omnivores, such as bears and raccoons, consume both plant and animal matter. Detritivores, like earthworms and fungi, break down dead organic material, recycling nutrients back into the ecosystem.
they are clearly herbivors because they eat plants and other grass type things
Dung beetles are not carnivores or herbivores. They are detritivores, feeding primarily on dung and decaying organic matter. Their diet consists mainly of animal feces, which they use for nutrition and reproduction.
Grasshoppers prefer leaves, grass, wheat, and other grains, making them herbivores. However, some varieties of the insect are omnivores. Detritivores eat dead organic, plants, which do not appeal to grasshoppers.
HERBIVORE
Flatworms are carnivores, herbivores and scavengers.

Herbivores, Carnivores, Omnivores, and Detritivores
cannibals, carnivores,herbivores,omnivores,Detritivores,and scavengers
carnivores - eat other animals herbivores- eat mainly autotrophs (plants and algae) omnivores - regularly consume animals as well as plants or algal matter detritivores - regularly consume dead organic matter
herbivores, carnivores, detritivores, and filter feeders.
The three functional feeding groups are herbivores, carnivores, and detritivores/decomposers. Herbivores consume plant material, carnivores consume other animals, and detritivores/decomposers break down dead organic matter.

Earthworms, flatworms, water lice, some fish, termites, and crabs are detritivores that eat dead and decomposing organic material. Any animal, or consumer, that eats insects can eat them. This includes birds, most bears, frogs, and any other consumer eats other animals.
